playsa.org is a free in-service Early Childhood Development training course that was developed in partnership with Department of Basic Education, UNICEF, Cotlands and LEGO Foundation.
The playsa.org online training course complements existing and formal training and people enrolled on the course can earn 15 CPD credits as set out by the South African Council for Educators in terms of section 5(b) of the South African Council for Educators Act 31 of 2000.

You can complete the PLAY online training in your own time and at your convenience. The courses are targeted at practitioners, Grade R – Grade 3 teachers, childminders, day mothers, playgroup facilitators or anyone who implements programmes for babies and young children.

Children of all ages love to play. Our PLAY courses will show you how to turn this natural behaviour into a powerful teaching tool. From crawling to basic mathematics, PLAY helps children learn in a fun, exciting environment.

Available PLAY courses

Based on age groups, each PLAY course is specifically designed to cater for 
every stage of a child’s development. 
Our courses are packed with both theory and practical instruction every step of the way.

  • Grade 1 – 3
Play-based learning shouldn’t stop once children enter the school classroom. All sessions in this course include a breakdown of the CAPS they’re linked to.
  • Grade R

This course will help you lay the foundations for skills children will use throughout the rest of their schooling career.

  • 2 – 5 years
This course is full of simple but practical lessons to lay the children’s foundations for language, communication and maths.
  • Birth – 2 years
Babies and toddlers are never too young to play. Through this course, you will learn how to help babies and toddlers reach their developmental milestones.
Boost your career by earning a PLAY certificate endorsed by the Department of Basic Education, UNICEF, Cotlands and the Lego Foundation.
 Each completed course qualifies you for 15 CPD credits as set out by the South African Council for Educators.
